Friday's Foto Finish Fiesta

This week I'm not so glad it's Friday because it means my week off work has come to an end. Why are vacations always to short?

This week's picture is from today's (Thursday) trip down to my Grandma's house. My kids have two Grandma', Two Great Grandma's, and one Great Great Grandma so the name Grandma was just too common around our house. My mom took the actual name Grandma, Dave's mom got Mammaw both of which Emma choose so that left my Grandma with the name Mimi which is what I called her when I was a toddler.

Anyway, every year when I am off work for the babysitters vacation I take a day and drive the hour and half alone with the kids to Mimis house for a day. We usually don't see Mimi unless there is some kind of family function and then everyone else is around so we don't get allot of quality. These trips during the week are always so special because it's just us and her. I think this years trip meant more than normal for Mimi because her oldest son, my uncle, passed away a few weeks ago leaving her a little depressed. I don't think there are too many things better than a granddaughter, and a couple of great grandchildren to brighten your day.

The kids and I had a wonderful time playing with Mimi and helping her cook lunch. I just wish we could have stayed longer.

It is wonderful that your kids get to experience an older generation. Beautiful picture of the 2 kids with Mimi. It is a treasure to have her, for sure!

My kids are afraid of their last surviving great grandma (we are a Polish family, so she's known as Bopka). It's sad. Their great grandpa passed away just over a year ago & my son, Andy, always reminds us that he died because "his heart broke". It's not easy explaining to kids why parts of the body just stop working.
