If you saw yesterday's post you know that I had a lot to live up to as far as the kids costumes went. I mean nothing will ever be better than the OSU Cheerleader and Brutus the Buckeye, but I at least wanted it to be close.
At the end of September the kids still didn't know what they wanted to be and I didn't have a clue either. Then one afternoon Emma asked if she could watch the Wizard of OZ and it came to me.
So here is what Emma was last night;
and this is what Ian was;
It wasn't hard to pick Emma's but I couldn't decided what Ian should be. The lion would be cute but that would be allot of work to make. See I knew I wanted them to have homemade costumes. I was thrilled with the Tin Man either, it just didn't seem like a toddlers costume, so that left us with the Scarecrow. The more I thought about it the more I loved the idea. When I finally asked the kids if they wanted to be Dorothy and the Scarecrow Emma asked if that meant she got to wear her Ruby Red shoes and Ian turned to Emma and told her he would be the Scarecrow to scare all the mean people away for her.
Now I can't take full credit for the costumes. My mom is the one that sewed them and I added the straw to Ian's so really she made them and I touched them up but they are still homemade and maybe one day Emma and Ian's kids will get to wear them.
The kids were a big hit last night and got more candy then they will be able to eat. The most important thing is they had a blast going door to door and other than one talking skeleton they didn't get scared.
Here are a couple more pictures from the night of Emma and Ian and my baby brother KJ.
