Real Men of Genius: Directions

Ok I am not sure what is going on this week but I think there may be something in the air because my husband had a moment (few hours) yesterday.

On Sunday we bought a new TV. It's our first High Definition one, we never really thought that the HD cable boxes would make that much of a differnce but once we got the TV home and had it hooked up to our regualr digital cable we instantly knew that we needed the HD.

Since Dave was off yesterday he decided to go up to the Time Warner office and exchange the boxes. He had called the customer service to see if there was anything special that would need to be done and the guy told him that there was nothign special invoved in hooking the HD box up so he could just go to the office on Olantangy River Rd and exchange the one we had.

Now here is where Dave screwed up, he didn't ask the guy what the exact address was and he left the house not knowing exactly where he was going. Dave is actually really good with directions so I am guessing he was relying a little to much on that because I got a phone call from him around 12:15. He had been driving around for about 40 minutes at that point because he couldn't find the place. Of course he was in a rotten mood, but he asked me to find the address. That was easier said then done. I got on Time Warner's website but I couldn't find any address's for them, so then I got on Yellow Pages and White Pages but the only address in Columbus I was finding was on Dublin Rd.

At that point Dave decided he would head over to the Dublin Rd location because what did he have to loose right? Of course he gets there and that store is vacant, go figure. Then he tried to call Time Warner but the lady placed him on hold. After about 30 minutes of sitting there on hold Dave called me back and asked me to look again. Me being the wonderful wife I am got back online to try and find something but I wasn't having any luck. One of my co-workers did say that she knew there was a Time Warner on Olantangy River Rd but she didn't know where.

In one last ditch attempt Dave headed back that way and by some miricle he found the store and was able to get the new box.

So the moral of this story is: If you've never been somewhere before ask for the full address or detailed directions.

That's a man for you, never asks for directions or reads them for that matter. That is quite funny. I will have to ask him if he knows where the Time Warner store is next time I see him. haha!

I feel a Christmas present coming on for your hubby...GPS. You know whats even better is when a friend WITH a GPS system still calls for directions. That happens to me sometimes. My hubby's friend calls and we don't even live in the same city anymore.

I feel I should explain that my husband never ever ever gets lost or can't find a place. We have been together for almost 12 years and this is the first time this has happened. Had he got the street # he would have been more likly to find the place based on what block it was in.

So what I am trying to say is GPS wouldn't be used enough by him to buy it, but I would love one! :)

As one who is directionally challenged (me, not David), I can feel his pain. But the story is great!
